Professor
This week, we will be looking at how consumers feel about their purchases oftechnology. Many people find that buying devices such as mobile phones orpersonal computers can be very difficult. They feel like they're not prepared tomake the best decision to suit their needs. In your posts, I want you to discussthe following question: What do you believe is the biggest mistake that peoplemake when buying tech products? Explain what this mistake is.
Amy
I think one problem is that people don't match the product'scapabilities to their actual needs. My brother just got a newmobile phone, and he is very excited about how highly ratedthe camera is. But he hardly ever takes photos. So he paidfora feature that he doesn't really need.
Rory
When people buy a new piece of hardware, like a laptop, theyoften don't consider the software they are purchasing alongwith the hardware. If the software is not what you are used toor doesn't work with your existing files, it can be frustrating tolearn a new way of using your laptop.

In response to the professor's question, my answer is that people are straightforward to forget their actual needs for tech products. As Amy said, her brother bought the phone due to its high camera rate, not for his natural need for the phone. Recently, there have been many comments on various brands of phones or laptops. With the development of technology, it is easier for people to get others' comments and opinions of tech products, which means they will be influenced by others and ignore themselves. And at the same time, Rory's opinion is also a crucial mistake, but compared to Amy‘s, it could be avoided by some professional people. Like me, my major is computer science, when I am going to university and need to buy a laptop, I asked many people, including my alumnus, who has graduated and majored in computer science, and my high school teacher. They think the Windows system will be more stable for computer science majors, so I choose a suitable laptop for myself finally. In essence, I think the biggest mistake is that most people always ignore the facts, only concentrating on others' comments.

In response to the professor's question, I believe that the most significant mistake people make when purchasing tech products is neglecting their actual needs and being swayed by others' opinions. As Amy mentioned, her brother bought a phone primarily for its highly-rated camera, despite rarely taking photos. This demonstrates how consumers can be influenced by external factors rather than focusing on their requirements.
Rory's point about considering software compatibility is also valid; however, this issue can be mitigated with guidance from professionals. For instance, as a computer science major, I sought advice from alumni and teachers before purchasing a laptop for university. They recommended a Windows system for its stability in my field of study, which ultimately led me to choose an appropriate device.
In summary, the most prominent error consumers make when buying tech products is disregarding their genuine needs and placing too much emphasis on others' opinions. To avoid this pitfall, individuals should assess their requirements carefully and seek expert advice when necessary. (166 words)
