In our discussion this week, we are going to discuss the subject of courseselection during high school. As we all know, education plays a crucial role inshaping our future. Choosing the right courses can be challenging given thevariety of options, but there are certainly key courses that could be morebeneficial. As students in the secondary school stage, or in high school, whiclcourse do you think is the most important and should be made compulsory? And why do you think so?
Student A
In my opinion, math should be a compulsory course in high school. Nowadayspeople are too reliant on using apps and machines; technologicaladvancements have weakened their math skills in daily life so math should becompulsory subiect. It is beneficial for students' future financial planning andother arrangements
Student B
I would argue that biology should be made compulsory. Biology is verycommonly used. Without knowledge of biology, students might not evenknow how to use medications. Studying biology helps us with everyday things, like understanding basic health care and making good choices about ourenvironment.

Only concentrating on major curriculum will destroy students interest of learning to some extent. By sticking some literacy lessons, students alleviate their stress. For instance, my senior high school, North East Yucai School, adds English literacy class between math and physics. All of students will be attractive by the colorful characteristics of A Song of Ice and Fire, the story of House Stark and dragon family. Students suffer from physical formula for the whole morning, but through this story they can enjoy themselves temporarily. Teachers will leave enough time for reading sectors, then will choose a representative talk about his or her understanding of one particular plot. All of students will overwhelm into fascinating stories and forget those complicated laws instead. It is indisputable fact that literacy is a window for students both expanding their horizons but also releasing pressure.

In my perspective, literacy should be a compulsory component of high school education. Engaging with literature allows students to broaden their horizons and immerse themselves in diverse narratives, exploring various corners of the world and traveling through time. Moreover, literature serves as an essential catalyst for alleviating academic stress. In contrast to the opinions of Students A and B, who emphasize the importance of mathematics and biology, literature presents itself in a more captivating manner. Focusing solely on core subjects may dampen students' enthusiasm for learning; incorporating literary lessons can help maintain their interest.
For example, my senior high school, North East Yucai School, interspersed English literature classes between math and physics sessions. Students were captivated by the vivid characters and intricate plotlines of works such as A Song of Ice and Fire. After grappling with complex mathematical formulas or scientific concepts all morning, students could temporarily lose themselves in these engrossing stories. Teachers allotted ample time for reading passages before inviting students to share their interpretations of specific scenes or events. This approach allowed everyone to become fully immersed in the narrative while momentarily setting aside their academic concerns.
Undoubtedly, literature serves as a window for students to expand their horizons while simultaneously providing respite from academic pressures. (213 words)
