Pterosaurs were an ancient group of winged reptiles that lived alongside the dinosaurs. Many pterosaurs were very large, some as large as a giraffe and with a wingspan of over 12 meters. Paleontologists have long wondered whether large pterosaurs were capable of powered flight (flying by flapping their wings) or whether they were able only to glide. Several arguments have been made against powered flight.Doubters point out that since modern reptiles are cold-blooded, ancient reptiles such as pterosaurs were probably cold-blooded as well. Cold-blooded animals typically have a slow metabolism and are unable to produce a lot of energy. Powered flight is an activity requiring a lot of energy, which is why all modern vertebrates that fly are warm-blooded, not cold-blooded. It seemed unlikely that pterosaurs would have been able to generate the energy needed to fly.Second, there is a limit to the weight of animals that can be kept airborne by powered flight. Pterosaurs that were as large as a giraffe were probably so heavy that they would not have been able to flap their wings fast enough to stay aloft for any length of time.Third, all animals with powered flight are able to take off from the ground. For example, birds take off by jumping from their legs or running to gain speed and then jumping. But these methods would not have worked for large pterosaurs. Large pterosaurs would have needed big, powerful muscles in their back legs to launch themselves into the air, and we know from fossilized bones that their back leg muscles were too small and weak to allow the pterosaurs to run fast enough or jump high enough to launch themselves into the air.

Whether pterosaurs are able to fly is the focus of both the writer and the professor. In the writing, three explanations, including less powerful, too heavy, and lack muscle, have been elaborated to explain why pterosaurs can not fly. The professor, however, claims that all such assumptions are incorrect. As opposed to the writer's view that pterosaurs are cold-blooded with a slow metabolism, which can not make enough energy to support their flight, the professor states that fossils show that they are capable to produce energy. She advances the theory by saying that fossils show that pterosaurs have dense and covered fur, which are always used by warm-blooded animals to maintain their body temperature. Therefore, pterosaurs can produce enough energy to help them fly. The professor continues to discredit the writing's assertion that pterosaurs are too heavy to fly, by examining the fact that some features show that pterosaurs actually are light. In detail, she points out that pterosaurs' bones are hollow, allowing them to have a low-body weight. Consequently, they can be kept airbone and flap their wings. It is the professor's third argument that pterosaurs are able to take off from the ground, which contradicts the view of the writer that due to lack legs and small muscles, it is difficult for pterosaurs to fly. To explore deeper, the professor contends that birds are different from pterosaurs, since birds only use their hind legs to help them push off from the ground. However, pterosaurs can use their all four legs to help them take off, so there is no trouble for them to fly into the air. An apparent divide exists between the writer and the professor on whether pterosaurs can fly.

Section Title: 6.文章修订

The ability of pterosaurs to fly is the central topic of discussion for both the author and the lecturer. The author presents three arguments against pterosaur flight, including insufficient energy production, excessive weight, and inadequate muscle strength. However, the lecturer refutes each of these points, providing evidence to support the notion that pterosaurs were indeed capable of flight.

Contrary to the author's claim that pterosaurs were cold-blooded with a slow metabolism, unable to generate sufficient energy for flight, the lecturer asserts that fossil evidence indicates they could produce ample energy. She explains that these fossils reveal a dense fur-like covering on pterosaurs, which is characteristic of warm-blooded animals that need to maintain a constant body temperature. Consequently, it is likely that pterosaurs had enough energy for powered flight.

Furthermore, the lecturer challenges the author's assertion that pterosaurs were too heavy for flight by highlighting anatomical features that suggest they were actually quite lightweight. Specifically, she notes that their bones were hollow rather than solid, resulting in a lower overall body weight. This reduced weight would have allowed them to remain airborne and flap their wings effectively.

Lastly, the lecturer disputes the author's argument that pterosaurs lacked adequate leg strength and muscle size for taking off from the ground. She emphasizes that unlike birds—which rely solely on their hind legs for launching—pterosaurs utilized all four limbs when taking off. Drawing parallels with modern-day bats who also use all four limbs during takeoff, she posits that even large pterosaurs would have been able to run or jump with sufficient force to become airborne.

In conclusion, there is a clear disagreement between the author and lecturer regarding whether or not pterosaurs could fly. (283 words)

While the reading puts forward three points to convince us of pterosaurs' failure in powered flight, the lecture refutes all the opinions apparently. In the beginning, doubters point out that ancient reptiles such as pterosaurs were probably cold-blooded since modern reptiles are cool-blooded. Animals with this character typically have a slow metabolism and unable to produce a lot of energy. It is unlikely that they would have been able to generate the energy needed to fly. However, the lecture says that pterosaurs have something like fur in their surface which enables them to keep a warm temperature of their body. Then, someone who is skeptical about powered flight considers that their weight is too high to flap their wings fast enough to stay aloft for a long period of time. Nevertheless, the listening says that the bones of pterosaurs were hollow. In this situation, it is not heavy like our imagination. Lastly, the doubters is skeptical about the back muscles of pterosaurs and whether it would offer enough energy to launch themselves into the air. But the lecture says birds use two limbs to fly while bats use four. Hence pterosaurs maybe also have enough capability to push off from the land.

Section Title: 6.文章修订

The reading passage presents three arguments against the possibility of powered flight in pterosaurs, while the lecture refutes each of these points with opposing evidence.

Initially, the reading claims that pterosaurs were likely cold-blooded, like modern reptiles, and therefore unable to generate sufficient energy for powered flight due to their slow metabolism. In contrast, the lecture explains that recent fossil discoveries show pterosaurs had a dense, fur-like covering, which is typical of warm-blooded animals needing to maintain a high body temperature. This suggests that pterosaurs may have had a faster metabolism than previously thought, providing them with enough energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading argues that large pterosaurs would have been too heavy to sustain powered flight by flapping their wings. However, the lecture counters this by stating that pterosaurs possessed anatomical features such as hollow bones that made them lighter than expected for their size. This lightweight structure would have allowed them to remain airborne through wing flapping.

Lastly, the reading asserts that large pterosaurs would not have been able to take off from the ground due to weak back leg muscles. The lecture disputes this point by highlighting differences between birds and pterosaurs in terms of limb usage during takeoff. While birds rely on their hind limbs alone for launching into the air, pterosaurs walked on all four limbs and could potentially use all four limbs for takeoff, similar to bats. The reading puts forward passage presents three points to convince us of pterosaurs' failure arguments against the possibility of powered flight in powered flight, pterosaurs, while the lecture refutes all the opinions apparently. each of these points with opposing evidence (Changed "7.文章批改" to "Article Revision" for a more natural English title and rephrased the opening sentence for clarity).

Initially, the reading claims that pterosaurs were likely cold-blooded, like modern reptiles, and therefore unable to generate sufficient energy for powered flight due to their slow metabolism. In the beginning, doubters point out that ancient reptiles contrast, the lecture explains that recent fossil discoveries show pterosaurs had a dense, fur-like covering (replaced "something like fur" with "a dense, fur-like covering" for clarity), which is typical of warm-blooded animals needing to maintain a high body temperature. This suggests that pterosaurs may have had a faster metabolism than previously thought, providing them with enough energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading argues that large pterosaurs would have been too heavy to sustain powered flight by flapping their wings. However, the lecture counters this by stating that pterosaurs possessed anatomical features such as pterosaurs were probably cold-blooded since modern reptiles are cool-blooded. Animals with this character typically have a slow metabolism and unable to produce a lot of energy. It is unlikely that they hollow bones that made them lighter than expected for their size (rephrased sentence for better flow). This lightweight structure would have allowed them to remain airborne through wing flapping.

Lastly, the reading asserts that large pterosaurs would not have been able to generate the energy needed to fly. However, the take off from the ground due to weak back leg muscles. The lecture says that pterosaurs have something like fur disputes this point by highlighting differences between birds and pterosaurs in terms of limb usage during takeoff (rephrased sentence for clarity). While birds rely on their surface which enables them to keep a warm temperature of their body. ¶ Then, someone who is skeptical about powered flight considers that their weight is too high to flap their wings fast enough to stay aloft for a long period of time. Nevertheless, the listening says that the bones of pterosaurs were hollow. In this situation, it is not heavy like our imagination. ¶ Lastly, the doubters is skeptical about the back muscles of pterosaurs and whether it hind limbs alone for launching into the air, pterosaurs walked on all four limbs and could potentially use all four limbs for takeoff, similar to bats (clarified comparison between birds and bats). Studies indicate that even the largest pterosaurs would offer enough energy have been capable of running or jumping with sufficient force using all four limbs to launch themselves into the air. But the lecture says birds use two limbs to fly while bats use four. Hence pterosaurs maybe also have enough capability to push off from the land.flight.

The reading passage presents three arguments against the possibility of powered flight in pterosaurs, while the lecture refutes each of these points with opposing evidence.

Both the listening and lecture talk about whether Pterosaurs are able to fly by flapping their wings. In general, the writer believes that Pterosaurs are not capable of powered flight, while the speaker holds a totally opposite opinions for the following reasons. First, according to the author, just like modern reptiles, Pterosaurs, as a kind of ancient reptile, are more likely to have slow metabolism, which can not provide enough energy to support powered flight. However, the lecturer rejects it by arguing that the fossil of Pterosaurs has a layer of dense and hair covering fur, which is actually a typical feature of warm blooded animals. Therefore, if Pterosaurs are blooded animals, they can generate enough energy to fly. Secondly, the writer states that Pterosaurs could not stay aloft in the air for any seconds because of its heavy weight. On the contrary, the speaker challenges it and mentions that Pterosaurs actually have the features of light weight despite its large soze. For example, the bones of Pterosaurs are hollow, which keeps the weight of Pterosaurs low enough to support their powered flight. Thirdly, the reading materials points out that Pterosaurs cannot fly because they don’t have the strong legs just like other animals with powered flight to help them launch off the ground. In contrast, the listening directly refutes it by claiming that the taking off the ground with two limbs are the way how bird do to launch. Actually, Pterosaurs launch in a different way from birds by using all the four limbs to push off the ground, just like modern flying animals do. Therefore, with four limbs, Pterosaurs can run fast and high enough to take off.

The reading passage and lecture both discuss the ability of Pterosaurs to achieve powered flight by flapping their wings. While the author argues that Pterosaurs were incapable of powered flight, the speaker presents opposing evidence to support their ability to fly.

Firstly, the author contends that Pterosaurs, being ancient reptiles, likely had a slow metabolism similar to modern reptiles, which would not provide sufficient energy for powered flight. In contrast, the lecturer refutes this claim by pointing out that Pterosaur fossils exhibit a dense, hair-like covering akin to fur - a characteristic of warm-blooded animals. Consequently, if Pterosaurs were warm-blooded, they could generate enough energy for flight.

Secondly, the writer asserts that the heavy weight of Pterosaurs would prevent them from staying aloft in the air for any significant duration. However, the speaker counters this argument by highlighting that Pterosaurs possessed lightweight features despite their large size. For instance, their bones were hollow rather than solid, reducing their overall weight and enabling them to maintain powered flight.

Lastly, the reading passage suggests that Pterosaurs could not achieve powered flight due to their lack of strong leg muscles needed for launching off the ground like other flying animals. In opposition to this view, the lecturer explains that unlike birds which use only two limbs for takeoff, Pterosaurs utilized all four limbs to push off from the ground - a method employed by modern flying animals such as bats. Therefore, with four limbs at their disposal, Pterosaurs could run fast and jump high enough for successful takeoff and sustained flight. (261 words)

The reading passage presents that pterosaurs, a kind of large, winged reptiles, are unable to do powered flight. The professor, however, points out that the pterosaurs are actually capable of doing powered flight. First, according to the reading, pterosaurs are cold-blooded, which means that they can not create enough energy needed to fly like those warm-blooded animals. But, the professor says that from recent research of pterosaurs fossils, scientists found that pterosaurs wings were covered with dense hair or fur. This hair like covering is a typical feature for those warm-blooded animals that fly. The covering of hair or fur can help these warm-blooded animals generate enough energy for powered flight. So with the same feature as warm-blooded animals, and with high moving speed, pterosaurs could also create enough energy for powered flight. Second, the reading passage contends that pterosaurs' powered flight were limited by their large body and heavy weight. However, the professor argues that pterosaurs' special body structure made their body unsusally light. By researching from their fossils, researchers found that their bones were hollow instead of solid, which made their weight low enough to take off from the ground despite their large outline. Third, the reading passage indicates that unlike birds which can take off by running or jumping to gain speed to fly, pterosaurs' back legs couldn't afford running fast or jumping high. Wheras, the professor proposes that pterosaurs were unable to launch themselves with their back legs indeed, but they actually used their four limbs to stand on the ground. So if they used their four limbs to run or jump, there would be no problem for them to run fast or jump high to get enough speed for powered flight.

The reading passage posits that pterosaurs, a type of large, winged reptiles, were incapable of powered flight. However, the professor in the lecture contends that pterosaurs were indeed capable of powered flight.

Firstly, the reading asserts that pterosaurs were cold-blooded and thus could not generate sufficient energy required for powered flight like warm-blooded animals. Contrarily, the professor mentions that recent research on pterosaur fossils has revealed that their wings were covered with dense hair or fur. This hair-like covering is a typical feature of warm-blooded animals that need to maintain a high body temperature in cold conditions. Consequently, if pterosaurs had a similar hair-like covering as warm-blooded animals, their metabolism would be faster than cold-blooded animals, allowing them to generate enough energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading passage contends that the large size and heavy weight of pterosaurs limited their ability to achieve powered flight. On the other hand, the professor argues that the unique body structure of pterosaurs made them lighter than expected. Researchers discovered that pterosaurs had hollow bones instead of solid ones, which significantly reduced their weight and allowed them to achieve powered flight despite their large size.

Lastly, the reading passage indicates that unlike birds which can take off by running or jumping to gain speed for flying, pterosaurs' back legs could not support running fast or jumping high. However, the professor points out that while it is true that pterosaurs could not launch themselves using only their back legs, they actually used all four limbs to stand on the ground. By employing all four limbs to run or jump, they would have had no problem achieving sufficient speed for powered flight. This method is similar to how modern flying animals like bats use all four limbs to push off from the ground.

In light of these opposing arguments presented by the professor, it becomes evident that pterosaurs were indeed capable of powered flight, contrary to the claims made in the reading passage. (329 words)

Both the reading and the listening materials are discussing about whether Pterosaurs are able to proceed powered flight. The reading passage introduces three general beliefs about lack in isolation, weight and muscles. However, the professor thinks that there are problems with each of the points presented in the passage. First and foremost, the writer of the essay claims that the slow metabolism rate sparked by cold blooded characteristic eventually causes pterosaurs unable to produce sufficient energy for powered flight. Nevertheless according to the professor, the previous idea is not correct. Pterosaurs obtain a dense fur covering which helps them maintain high body temperature in order to supply energy. Moreover, the reading puts forward that pterosaurs are too heavy to do powered flight. To be more specific, they have an extremely large size and weight which rejected them from flaming wings fast enough. Whereas, according to the lecture, the problem with this idea, as the professor explains, is that pterosaurs have evolved certain features to adopt to the situation. For instance, their bones are hollow, which lightened their pressure from gravitational force and enabled powered flight. Finally, the author of the article mentions that pterosaurs could not take off from the ground. That is because their back legs muscles are too small and weak to launch them into sky. However, this idea is refuted by the professor, who indicates that differing from normal birds, pterosaurs use all four legs to push off. By the way, the extra driving force provides enough momentum for taking off.

The reading and listening materials discuss the ability of Pterosaurs to achieve powered flight. The reading passage presents three arguments against this ability, focusing on metabolism, weight, and leg muscles. However, the lecture opposes each of these points by providing alternative explanations.

Firstly, the reading passage argues that Pterosaurs' cold-blooded nature would result in a slow metabolism rate, preventing them from generating enough energy for powered flight. In contrast, the lecture contends that recent fossil discoveries show Pterosaurs had a dense fur-like covering, which is typical of warm-blooded animals. This suggests that their metabolism could have been faster than previously thought, providing sufficient energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading claims that Pterosaurs were too heavy for powered flight due to their large size and weight. The lecture disputes this point by explaining that Pterosaurs had evolved specific anatomical features to adapt to their size. For example, their bones were hollow instead of solid, reducing their overall weight and allowing them to generate enough lift for powered flight.

Lastly, the reading asserts that Pterosaurs would not have been able to take off from the ground due to weak back leg muscles. The lecture refutes this argument by highlighting a key difference between Pterosaurs and birds: while birds use only their hind limbs for takeoff, Pterosaurs utilized all four limbs. This additional force would have provided enough momentum for successful takeoff into the air. (236 words)

However, the listening challenges what is stated in the passage by presenting three strong coounterarguments. The reading passage presents three arguments against the possibility of powered flight in Pterosaurs, while the lecture refutes each of these points by providing contrasting evidence.

Firstly, the reading suggests that Pterosaurs were cold-blooded reptiles, unable to generate sufficient energy for powered flight. However, the lecture counters this argument by stating that recent fossil discoveries indicate that Pterosaurs had a dense, fur-like covering, which is characteristic of warm-blooded animals. This implies that their metabolism was more similar to warm-blooded creatures and could have provided them with enough energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading claims that the large size and weight of Pterosaurs would have made it impossible for them to stay airborne through powered flight. In contrast, the lecture highlights anatomical features of Pterosaurs that made them lighter than expected for their size, such as hollow bones instead of solid ones. This reduced weight would have allowed them to maintain flight by flapping their wings.

Lastly, the reading asserts that Pterosaurs' weak back leg muscles would have prevented them from taking off from the ground like modern birds do. The lecture disputes this point by explaining that unlike birds, which only use their hind limbs for takeoff, Pterosaurs utilized all four limbs while on the ground. The speaker cites examples of modern flying animals like bats that also use all four limbs for takeoff and concludes that even large Pterosaurs could have achieved sufficient speed or height to launch themselves into the air using this method. Contrary to the author's belief that pterosaus which is ancient reptiles are probably cold-blooded animals, the lecturer argues that pterosaus are warm-blooded animals. He explains that we find pterosaus have dense hair like covering and fur covering from fossil which is typical feature of the warm-blooded animals. So pterosaus have a suitable metabolism to produce a lot of energy and their fur covering can protect energy from losing which can help them hold a high temperature in a cold environment. The lecturer also challenges the author's claim that pterosaus were probably too heavy to stay aloft for any length of time. He points that the practical weigh of pterosaus might be a little light. Furthermore, since the bones of pterosaus are hollow, the weigh of pterosaus is much smaller than we think and pterosaus can easily keep airborne with their body in the winds. Section Title: 6.文章修订

The lecturer disputes the author's arguments against the powered flight of pterosaurs, which are based on their cold-blooded nature, large weight, and weak leg muscles. The lecturer provides counterarguments for each point raised by the author.

Contrary to the author's assertion that pterosaurs were likely cold-blooded, the lecturer posits that they were warm-blooded animals. He cites evidence from fossils showing a dense hair-like covering and fur on pterosaurs, which are typical features of warm-blooded animals. Consequently, pterosaurs would have had a metabolism suitable for producing ample energy and maintaining a high body temperature in cold environments.

Furthermore, the lecturer challenges the author's claim that pterosaurs were too heavy to sustain powered flight. He argues that their actual weight might have been lighter than assumed due to their hollow bone structure. This lightweight anatomy would have allowed pterosaurs to stay airborne more easily than initially thought.

Lastly, while the author contends that pterosaurs' weak back leg muscles prevented them from launching into the air effectively, the lecturer counters this by highlighting their four-limbed locomotion on land. Unlike birds, which only use two limbs to push off from the ground, pterosaurs could utilize all four limbs for propulsion. This advantage would have enabled them to jump high enough to initiate powered flight.

In light of these counterarguments presented by the lecturer, it becomes evident that there is a significant disagreement between both parties regarding whether or not pterosaurs were capable of powered flight. (244 words)

The passage introduces the topic of the impossibility of pterosaurs are able to support powered flight. The lecture counters this by claiming that pterosaurs are capable of powered flight and refutes each of the reasons made in the reading. Firstly, the reading passage states that the feature of slow metabolism of cold-blooded animals, including pterosaurs, are unable to produce enough energy for powered flight. The lecturer, however, believes that there are flaws in the author's positiion. He contends that according to the recent discovered fossils, pterosaurs are covered by dense and hair-like feather to maintain high body tempreture, indicating them a kind of warm-blooded animal. In this way, pterosaurs with high-metabolism can generate the energy needed for powered flight. Secondly, the author considers that powered flight is limited to weight and pterosaurs are too heavy to flap wings fast enough to fly. The instructor, on the other hand, refutes this statement and argues that pterosaurs are actually light even for their sizes. He goes on to take an example that pterosaurs's bones are hallow, instead of solid, which provides pterosaurs with lower weight and support powered flight by flapping wings. Finally, the reading implies that back leg muscles of pterosaurs are too weak to run fast and jump high for launching them into the air. Casting doubt on the claim, the professor points out that pterosaurs walking in four legs, push themselves off the ground also with four legs, rather than two back legs similar as birds, offering them chances to run fast enough and jump high enough to launch themselves into the air.

The passage introduces the topic of the impossibility of (Two consecutive spaces)pterosaurs are able to support powered flight.

The lecturer, however, believes that there are flaws in the author's positiionposition(misspelling). He contends that according to the recent discovered fossils, pterosaurs are covered by dense and hair-like feather to maintain high body tempreturetemperature(misspelling), indicating them a kind of warm-blooded animal.

He goes on to take an example that pterosaurs'spterosaur's(wrong genitive (e.g., 'employees's' instead of 'employee's')) bones are hallowhallowed(Agreement: 'been' or 'was' + past tense), instead of solid, which provides pterosaurs with lower weight and support powered flight by flapping wings.

The passage introduces the topic of pterosaurs' inability to support powered flight, while the lecture counters this by claiming that pterosaurs were indeed capable of powered flight and refutes each of the reasons made in the reading.

Firstly, the reading passage asserts that the slow metabolism of cold-blooded animals, including pterosaurs, would not produce enough energy for powered flight. The lecturer, however, disputes this notion. He contends that recently discovered fossils indicate that pterosaurs had a dense, hair-like covering to maintain high body temperature, suggesting they were warm-blooded animals. Consequently, pterosaurs with a high metabolism could generate the energy needed for powered flight.

Secondly, the author posits that powered flight is limited by weight and that pterosaurs were too heavy to flap their wings fast enough to fly. The instructor refutes this statement and argues that pterosaurs were actually lightweight for their size. He cites the example of pterosaurs' hollow bones instead of solid ones, which would provide them with lower weight and enable powered flight through wing flapping.

Finally, the reading implies that the back leg muscles of pterosaurs were too weak to run fast and jump high enough for launching themselves into the air. Challenging this claim, the professor points out that unlike birds who use only their hind limbs for takeoff, pterosaurs walked on all four legs and pushed themselves off the ground using all four limbs as well. This method would allow them to run fast enough and jump high enough to launch themselves into the air. (254 words)

The article and the lecture are both about a debate about whether pterosaurs could fly. While the author of the article argues that it is impossible for pterosaurs to fly, the lecturer claims that pterosaurs may have the ability to fly. According to the article, firstly, the author mentions that pterosaurs were probably cold-blooded because modern reptiles are cold-blooded. Since cold-blooded animals have a slow metabolism, they can not produce enough energy to fly. However, the lecturer says that new findings in fossils supports that the bodies of pterosaurs were covered by hair and fur, which are features of warm-blooded animals. These coverings can maintain their body temperature high while the environment is cold to supply energy for flying. Secondly, the author suggests that pterosaurs were so heavy that they could not flap their wings fast enough to stay in the air. In contrast, the lecturer claims that pterosaurs were light in fact. Their bones were hollow so they weight low and they could flap their wings to do powered flight. Finally, the author puts forward that pterosaurs did not have powerful back leg muscles to run or jump enough to launch into the air. Nevertheless, the lecturer believes that pterosaurs did not only use back legs to push off, but used all their four limbs to launch themselves into the air. In the consequence, large pterosaurs had no trouble using their muscles to fly.

The article and the lecture present opposing views on the ability of pterosaurs to fly. The author of the article contends that pterosaurs were incapable of flight, while the lecturer asserts that they may have possessed this ability.

Firstly, the article posits that pterosaurs were likely cold-blooded, similar to modern reptiles, and thus unable to generate sufficient energy for flight due to their slow metabolism. Conversely, the lecturer cites recent fossil discoveries indicating that pterosaurs had a dense, fur-like covering typically found in warm-blooded animals. This suggests that their metabolism was more akin to warm-blooded creatures, providing them with adequate energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the author argues that the large size and weight of pterosaurs would have prevented them from flapping their wings quickly enough to remain airborne. However, the lecturer counters this by highlighting anatomical features unique to pterosaurs that made them lighter than expected for their size. For instance, their hollow bones contributed to a lower overall weight, enabling them to maintain powered flight by flapping their wings.

Lastly, the author claims that pterosaurs lacked sufficiently strong back leg muscles for running or jumping high enough to launch themselves into the air. In contrast, the lecturer explains that unlike birds which rely solely on their hind limbs for takeoff, pterosaurs utilized all four limbs when launching from the ground. Drawing parallels with modern bats, she contends that even large pterosaurs would have been capable of using all four limbs to run or jump with enough force to initiate flight. (255 words)

However, this is not in agreement with the lecture which holds the view that Pterosaurs are probably capable of powered flight. To start with, the author points out that Pterosaurs do not have enough energy to supply flying because the cold blooded animals can not produce amount of energy. In contrast, this statement is refuted by the lecturer who provides contradictory evidence and states that the fossil of Pterosaurs shows that they have dense hair covering themselves, which is helpful to fly. Moreover, the dense hair is a character of warm blooded animals to maintain their body tempeture during cold environment. Thus, Pterosaurs have the feature like warm blooded animals to supply enough energy for powered flight. In addition, the writer argues that the Pterosaurs are too heavy to stay aloft in the sky by flapping their wings, they do not meet the weight limit. On the other hand, the professor casts doubt on this point, suggesting that Pterosaurs have unusual light weight for their large body. For example, the bone of Pterosaurs is hollow inside, leading to weight much lower. As a result, the weight of Pterosaurs is light enough for them to keep flying just by flapping the wings. In the third place, although the reading metarial says that Pterosaurs do not have strong legs to launch the land after flying like birds, the speaker claims that the way Pterosaurs and birds landing is different. Thus, it is no difficult for them to jump enough to fly with their legs.

The reading passage posits that pterosaurs were incapable of powered flight for three reasons. However, the lecture contradicts this view, arguing that pterosaurs were likely capable of powered flight.

Firstly, the author asserts that pterosaurs, as cold-blooded animals, could not generate sufficient energy for powered flight. In contrast, the lecturer refutes this claim by presenting evidence from recent fossil discoveries showing that pterosaurs had a dense hair-like covering akin to fur. This fur-like covering is characteristic of warm-blooded animals that need to maintain a high body temperature in cold conditions. Consequently, if pterosaurs had a metabolism more similar to warm-blooded animals, they would have had enough energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the writer contends that large pterosaurs were too heavy to sustain powered flight due to their size and weight limitations. The professor disputes this point by highlighting unique anatomical features of pterosaurs that made them lighter than expected for their size. For instance, their bones were hollow rather than solid, resulting in a lower overall weight despite their large frames. This lightweight structure would have allowed pterosaurs to remain airborne by flapping their wings.

Lastly, the reading material argues that pterosaurs lacked the powerful leg muscles needed for launching themselves into the air like birds do. The speaker counters this argument by emphasizing the differences between birds and pterosaurs in terms of takeoff methods. While birds use only their hind limbs (legs) for walking and launching from the ground with two limbs, pterosaurs walked on all four limbs while on land. The lecturer cites modern flying animals like bats as an example; they walk on all four limbs and use all four limbs to push off from the ground during takeoff. Studies indicate that even the largest pterosaurs would have been able to run fast enough or jump high enough using all four limbs to launch themselves into the air. (314 words)

In the third place, although Lastly, the reading metarial says that Pterosaurs do not have strong legs to launch the land after material argues that pterosaurs lacked the powerful leg muscles needed for launching themselves into the air like birds do. The speaker counters this argument by emphasizing the differences between birds and pterosaurs in terms of takeoff methods (Changed "landing is different" to "takeoff methods"). While birds use only their hind limbs (legs) for walking and launching from the ground with two limbs, pterosaurs walked on all four limbs while on land. The lecturer cites modern flying animals like birds, the speaker claims that the way Pterosaurs bats as an example; they walk on all four limbs and birds landing is different. What's more, birds only use two legs to land, and they only have two forms. By contrast, Pterosaurs use all four legs to land limbs to push off from the ground during takeoff (Changed "land the ground like bet, and do not just use two back legs to push off. Thus, it bet" to "push off from the ground during takeoff"). Studies indicate that even the largest pterosaurs would have been able to run fast enough or jump high enough using all four limbs to launch themselves into the air (Changed "it is no difficult for them to jump enough to fly with their legs.difficult" to "would have been able").

The reading passage claims that paleontologists have long wondered whether large pterosaurs were capable of powered flight or whether they were able only to glide, providing three arguments having made against powered flight. However, the lecture challenges each of these theories with counterarguments, suggesting none of these theories are convincing. Firstly, the reading passage posits that having a slow metabolism like other cold-blood animals, pterosaurs are unable to produce enough energy required for powered flight. On the contrary, the lecture contends that pterosaurs have dense hair like covering, which is the characteristic of warm-blood animals. warm-blood animals use this covering to keep warm when they are in a cold environment. Thus, ancient pterosaurs may be warm-blood animals and indeed have lots of energy required for powered flight. Secondly, according to the reading passage, pterosaurs would not have been able to flap their wings fast enough to stay aloft for any length of time, since they are so heavy and as large as a giraffe. In contrast, the lecture disputes this argument by stating that pterosaurs are unusual light for their size due to their special structure. Pterosaurs have light bones despite their heavy body, make them enough light to flap their wings in the air for powered flight. Therefore, this evidence does not necessarily disprove the claim from the lecture. Lastly, pterosaurs’ back leg muscles were too small and weak to allow the pterosaurs to run fast enough or jump high enough to launch themselves into the air, making them unable to take off from the ground. Nevertheless, the lecture refutes this argument by explaining that different from birds which use back legs or just jumping to gain speed, pterosaurs can utilize both their four legs and the way of jumping to launch themselves into the air. Pterosaurs did not only use the back one, as a result of which, they can easily take off.

The reading passage asserts that large pterosaurs may not have been capable of powered flight, presenting three arguments to support this claim. However, the lecture opposes each of these points with counterarguments, suggesting that the theories presented in the reading passage are not convincing.

Firstly, the reading passage posits that pterosaurs, being cold-blooded animals like modern reptiles, would have had a slow metabolism and thus would not have been able to produce enough energy for powered flight. In contrast, the lecture contends that recent fossil discoveries indicate that pterosaurs had a dense hair-like covering akin to fur, which is characteristic of warm-blooded animals. This fur-like covering would have helped them maintain a high body temperature in cold conditions. Consequently, it is plausible that pterosaurs had a metabolism more similar to warm-blooded animals and could generate sufficient energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading passage argues that due to their large size and weight comparable to giraffes, pterosaurs would not have been able to flap their wings fast enough to stay aloft for extended periods. The lecture refutes this claim by highlighting unique anatomical features of pterosaurs that made them unusually light for their size. For instance, their bones were hollow instead of solid, reducing their overall weight despite their large body frames. This lightweight structure would have allowed pterosaurs to flap their wings effectively and maintain powered flight.

Lastly, the reading passage states that pterosaurs' weak back leg muscles would have prevented them from running or jumping fast enough to launch themselves into the air for takeoff. The lecture counters this argument by emphasizing significant differences between birds and pterosaurs in terms of locomotion. While birds rely solely on their hind limbs for walking and takeoff, pterosaurs used all four limbs when on the ground. Drawing parallels with modern flying animals like bats, which also use all four limbs for takeoff, the lecture suggests that even the largest pterosaurs could have employed their four limbs to run or jump with enough speed and height to initiate powered flight. The reading states that there is no possibility that ptesosaurs are capable of powered flight, pointing out 3 reasons. On the contrary, the lecturer disagrees with the statement. To begin with, the reading claims that since pterosaurs are retile, it is more likely that they are also cold-blooded. However, cold-blooded animals are featured in low metabolism and produce less energy. Since powered flight requires lots of energy, it is no way that pterosaurs could master this skill. In contrast, the lecturer argues that there is evidence that pteroaurs are covered be dense hair which is similar with fur to maitain their body temperature. Hence, they, in fact, might be warm-blooded and possess the energy to fly. Moreover, the reading suggests that this kind of animal is too heavy to fly. The lecturer cast doubt on this point by asserting that according to the anatomical results, the mass of pteroaurs are actually light considering their large size. That is because since bones of them are hallow, which greatly reduces the weight. At last, the reading demonstrate that pteroaurs cannot fly as birds, in that they do not have strong muscles in their back legs to launch themselves into air. The lecturer counters the argument by illustrating that the way that pteroaurs are different from birds, they use all 4 limbs to push off the ground and fly. Therefore, even they do not have strong hind limbs, they could fly as well.

The lecturer counters the argument by illustrating that the way that pteroaurspterosaurs(misspelling) are different from birds, they use all 4 limbs to push off the ground and fly. Therefore, even they do not have strong hind limbs, they could fly as well.

Section Title: 6.文章修订

The reading asserts that pterosaurs were incapable of powered flight, providing three reasons to support this claim. However, the lecturer opposes this view and presents evidence to counter each point made in the reading passage.

Firstly, the reading suggests that pterosaurs were cold-blooded reptiles with low metabolism and insufficient energy for powered flight. In contrast, the lecturer points out that recent fossil discoveries indicate a dense, hair-like covering on pterosaurs, which is characteristic of warm-blooded animals that need to maintain high body temperatures. This implies that pterosaurs may have had a faster metabolism than previously thought, providing them with the necessary energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading argues that large pterosaurs were too heavy for powered flight due to their size. The lecturer refutes this by explaining that pterosaur anatomy featured hollow bones instead of solid ones, making them lighter than expected for their size. This lightweight structure would have allowed pterosaurs to remain airborne by flapping their wings.

Lastly, the reading states that pterosaurs could not take off like birds due to weak back leg muscles. The lecturer counters this argument by highlighting a crucial difference between birds and pterosaurs: while birds use only their hind limbs for walking and launching into the air, pterosaurs utilized all four limbs on the ground. The lecturer draws a comparison with bats, which also walk on all fours and use all limbs for takeoff. Consequently, even without strong hind limbs, large pterosaurs could still achieve powered flight using all four limbs for propulsion. (255 words)

Revised essay: The reading states asserts that there is no possibility that ptesosaurs are pterosaurs were capable of powered flight, pointing out 3 reasons. providing three reasons to support this claim. On the contrary, the lecturer disagrees with the statement. this statement and presents evidence to counter each point made in the reading passage.

To begin with, the reading claims that since pterosaurs are retile, reptiles, it is more likely that they are were also cold-blooded. However, cold-blooded animals are featured in have low metabolism and produce less energy. Since energy, which would make powered flight requires lots of energy, it is no way that pterosaurs could master this skill. difficult for pterosaurs. In contrast, the lecturer argues that there is evidence that pteroaurs are pterosaurs were covered be in dense hair (similar to fur) which is similar with fur to maitain would help maintain their body temperature. Hence, they, in fact, This suggests that they might be have been warm-blooded and possess possessed the energy to fly. needed for flight.

Moreover, the reading suggests that this kind of animal is these animals were too heavy to fly. fly due to their size. The lecturer cast casts doubt on this point by asserting that according to the anatomical results, the mass studies, pterosaurs were actually lighter than expected for their large size because their bones were hollow instead of pteroaurs are actually light considering their large size. That is solid (reducing weight). This lightweight structure would have allowed them to fly more easily.

Lastly, the reading demonstrates that pterosaurs could not fly like birds because since bones of them are hallow, which greatly reduces the weight. ¶ At last, the reading demonstrate that pteroaurs cannot fly as birds, in that they do did not have strong muscles in their back legs to launch for launching themselves into the air. The lecturer counters the this argument by illustrating that the way that pteroaurs are different from birds, they unlike birds (which use all 4 limbs to push off the ground and fly. only their hind limbs for walking and launching), pterosaurs used all four limbs on the ground. This is similar to how bats walk on all fours and use all limbs for takeoff. Therefore, even they do not have without strong hind limbs, they large pterosaurs could fly as well.still achieve powered flight using all four limbs for propulsion.

Both the reading and the listening material discuss the possibility for pterosaurs to fly. In the reading material, the authors presents 3 reasons to support that it is impossible for pterosaurs to fly due to their heavy weight. Nevertheless, the lecturer in the listening rebuts each point, providing alternative explanations. To begin with, the author argues that pterosaurs are clod-blooded, which have a slow metabolism and unable to produce enough energy needed to fly. However, the lecturer offers an opposite stand. He states that according to a recent research, pterosaurs might be warm-blooded. To support this, the lecturer mentions that fossils discovered reveal that pterosaurs are covered with hair or fur, which is the symbol of warm-blooded animals. It helps them to keep their body temperatures high even in extreme cold environments. As a result, this can supply them with enough energy even their metabolism is low. Secondly, the author claims that pterosaurs are too heavy to flap their wings fast enough to fly. In the contrast, the lecturer casts doubt on this point. He demonstrates that pterosaurs can be light enough to fly. To be specific, pterosaurs' bones are hollow rather than solid, which makes their weight drop. In this way, they can be light enough to flap their wings to fly. Finally, the author contends that pterosaurs are unable to launch them into the air, since their fossiles show that their muscles are too weak. But the lecturer challenged his point. He points out that there is a difference between birds and pterosaurs. To support this, he mentions birds use two limbs to lauch themselves into the sky, while pterosaurs use four limbs to walk and launch. This can also be seen in modern animals who use four legs to push themselves to fly. Moreover, studies show that even the largest pterosaur has no trouble in jumping into the air by using four legs.

6.文章修订

Both the reading and the listening materials discuss the possibility of powered flight in pterosaurs. The reading passage presents three arguments against this capability, while the lecture refutes each point by providing alternative explanations.

Firstly, the reading passage argues that pterosaurs were cold-blooded, possessing a slow metabolism and thus unable to produce sufficient energy for powered flight. In contrast, the lecturer contends that recent research suggests pterosaurs might have been warm-blooded. This claim is supported by newly discovered fossils that reveal a dense, hairlike covering on pterosaurs, which is typical of warm-blooded animals as it helps them maintain a high body temperature in cold conditions. Consequently, even with a low metabolism, pterosaurs could have generated enough energy for powered flight.

Secondly, the reading passage posits that large pterosaurs would have been too heavy to flap their wings fast enough for sustained flight. However, the lecturer disputes this assertion by explaining that pterosaurs had anatomical features that made them exceptionally lightweight for their size. Specifically, their bones were hollow rather than solid, reducing their overall weight and enabling them to be light enough to achieve powered flight through wing flapping.

Lastly, the reading passage contends that large pterosaurs would have been unable to launch themselves into the air due to weak back leg muscles as evidenced by fossilized remains. The lecturer challenges this claim by highlighting significant differences between birds and pterosaurs in terms of takeoff methods. While birds use only their hind limbs to launch themselves into the sky, pterosaurs utilized all four limbs for walking and launching. This characteristic can also be observed in modern flying animals such as bats that employ all four limbs for takeoff. Furthermore, studies indicate that even the largest pterosaur would have had no difficulty using all four limbs to run fast enough or jump high enough to become airborne.

In summary, despite the reading passage's arguments against powered flight in pterosaurs, the lecture effectively refutes each point by presenting alternative explanations and evidence, suggesting that these ancient creatures were indeed capable of powered flight. (342 words)
