As we all know, the education system plays a crucial role in shaping the future of any society by providing a strong foundation for the upcoming generations. However, there are different ways of instruction for high school teachers across the nation and this has led to a debate on their merits. Which approach would you argue is better—teacher-centered education or student-centered education? Why?
Alisa
I strongly believe that teacher-centered education is the better approach for high school instruction. In this type of education, the teacher is the expert and the students are there to learn from them. This approach ensures that students receive a comprehensive and structured education that covers all necessary topics. It may seem like a good idea that student-centered education places the focus on the student's interests and preferences, but it often results in a lack of structure and a failure to cover important topics.
Student B
Unlike Alisa, I strongly believe that student-centered education is the better approach. I mean, this method prioritizes the needs and interests of the students, allowing them to take an active role in their own learning. It is more likely for them to retain information and develop critical thinking skills. Also, such an education promotes collaboration and communication among peers, preparing students for the real world where teamwork is essential. Therefore, I think the student-centered way of instruction is better.

While Alisa has a point, I tend to believe that student-centered education is better. First, the ends of education is to help students to become a better version of themselves and student-centered approach is way to achieve this goal. That is to say, different students have different personalities and learning habits, which means the study plan should be tailored for each one of them. Second, interest is the best teacher. If students are able to choose their own class, they may be more engaging in the program. For example, there was a time in my high school when students can choose classes that interested them most. My friends and I spent days preparing materials for the movie class and never got tired of finishing the assignments. In conclusion, a student-centered teaching style may emphasize students' needs over teachers' demands, which is the purpose of education.

Example 1: For a clearer introduction, you could write "In this essay, I will argue that student-centered education is the better approach for high school instruction because it caters to individual learning needs and fosters greater engagement in the learning process."
Example 2: For a more focused body paragraph, you could write "One of the main advantages of student-centered education is its ability to cater to individual learning needs. For instance, some students may excel in visual learning while others prefer auditory learning; a student-centered approach allows teachers to cater to these diverse needs."

Section Title: 6 Article Revision
In the debate between teacher-centered and student-centered education, I lean towards the latter as a more effective approach. The primary objective of education is to facilitate personal growth and development in students, which can be better achieved through a student-centered approach. This method acknowledges the individuality of each student, taking into account their unique personalities and learning habits, thereby allowing for customized study plans. Furthermore, fostering interest in learning is essential for engagement and motivation. By offering students the autonomy to select classes that align with their interests, they are more likely to be fully immersed in the learning process. For instance, during my high school years when we were given the option to choose classes that piqued our curiosity, my friends and I eagerly prepared materials for a movie class and consistently completed assignments with enthusiasm. Ultimately, a student-centered teaching style prioritizes students' needs over rigid curriculum demands, aligning more closely with the true purpose of education. (163 words)
