University Choir to Enter Off-Campus Singing Competitions Currently, the university choir gives singing concerts only on campus. Next year, however, the choir will add competitive events at other locations to its schedule. The choir’s new director feels that entering singing competitions will make the quality of the choir’s performance even better than it is now. “Competitions will motivate students in the choir to pursue a higher standard of excellence in singing.” He said. In addition, it is hoped that getting the choir off campus and out in the public will strengthen the reputation of the university’s music program. This in turn will help the program grow.

Revised Answer (140 words): The main change mentioned is that the choir will participate in off-campus singing competitions to improve their performance quality. The man fully supports this change for two main reasons. Firstly, he believes it will motivate the choir to work harder and compete with other choirs, as they will face strong competition from other schools. For instance, they previously rehearsed once a week, but now they will practice more frequently to enhance their skills. Secondly, he thinks this approach will attract more people to join the choir and increase the number of performances in their program. By participating in off-campus events and showcasing their talent, the choir can potentially attract new students to the university's music program, thus helping it grow and strengthen its reputation. Overall, the man is optimistic about the change and its potential benefits for both the choir and the university's music program.
